USPS zip codes are street-based and the USPS provides no polygonal boundaries per se. However, given the streets serviced by a particular zip code and the parcels (properties) addressed along those streets, a polygonal representation of a zip code can be approximated. </span></p><p><span>The USPS 'ZIP Code by Address' online tool ( </span><a href='https://tools.usps.com/zip-code-lookup.htm?byaddress' style='text-decoration:underline;'><span>https://tools.usps.com/zip-code-lookup.htm?byaddress</span></a><span>) was used as the base source of zip code boundaries with additional QC by Jefferson County BITGIS.</span></p><p><span>Column POSTALCITYNAME contains the "city" name for the post office serving the specified zip code. Some are simply community names (CONIFER, EVGERGREEN, PINE, etc), while others are the name of a municipality. However, note the municipality per post office location may differ from the municipality of the addressed property being served. For example, the 80212 zip code serves Wheat Ridge, Mountain View and Lakeside addresses but the post office is actually located within Denver. </span></p><p><span>SNAP individual and household enrollment data originated from the Colorado Benefits Management System but was obtained through contacts at Jefferson County Human Services.</span></p><p><span>SNAP enrollment data zip codes were joined to zip code boundary data and rates calculated from the total individuals and households enrolled in SNAP by Jefferson County Public Health. Rates are all calculated per 1000 individuals (or households). </span></p><p><span /></p><p><span>Static dataset. </span></p><p><span>Zip code data last updated: October 2024.</span></p><p><span>SNAP data last updated September 2025.</span></p><p><span>Data is in State Plane Grid Coordinates, Colorado Central Zone, NAD83 (US feet).</span></p></div></div></div> |
