Service Description:

Data Type: Dynamic. Vintage: Current. The data represents the distinct combinations of Jefferson County commissioner, state house, state senate and congressional districts, with the names of the associated elected officials, for use in the "Who is My Commissioner?" web application.

Note broad changes to commissioner district boundaries occur only after county precincts have changed in response to re-districting, a process that happens every ten years. However, note slight modiffication to the representation of all of these district boundaries may occur due to general editing of BaseLine and coincident BasePoly features in the Address Street Political (ASP) database. Such editing occurs on a daily to weekly basis by the GIS Team in Business & Innovation Technologies, therefore this feature class is regenerated when such editing occurs through automated geoprocessing (ASP Derivative and ASP to Warehouse).

As employed in the "Who is My Commissioner?" web app, the data allows the user to point at a location in this polygonal data whereby associated attributes are returned.

** IMPORTANT **

While a commissioner must live in the district from whence elected, note election occurs on an at-large basis: that is, when a commissioner district race is on the ballot, all Jefferson County registered voters decide the outcome of the race.

Commissioner districts therefore ensure a measure of spatial diversity in terms of where commissioners live within the County, but as for representation, all commissioners represent all citizens.

Data is in State Plane Grid Coordinates, Colorado Central Zone, NAD83 (US feet).
